You can disconnect your Edge device from your Manufacturing Connect when it is no longer needed. Follow these steps to disconnect an Edge device.

# Before You Begin

Ensure you have at least one Edge device activated in your Manufacturing Connect. See [Activate an Edge Device](docId\:M2dU1twvNe9kZ1he-r222) for more information.

# Step 1: Navigate to Edge Devices

From your Manufacturing Connect dashboard, open the **Edge Management** page.

# Step 2: Deactivate the Device

You must first deactivate the device before disconnecting it from Manufacturing Connect. 

**To deactivate an edge device:**

1. For the Edge device you want to disconnect, click the **Action menu** and select **Deactivate**.
   The *Deactivation *dialog box appears.

2. Select the checkbox to *Force deactivation *and click **DEACTIVATE**.

**Caution:** Deactivation is an irreversible process. If not done carefully, you may lose all device configurations.

# Step 3: Remove the Device

Once you have deactivated the device, you can safely remove it.

**To remove an edge device:** 

1. Navigate to the* Edge Management *page again.
2. Click the **Action menu **and select **Delete**.
   The *Deletion *dialog box appears.

3. To remove the device permanently, click the **DELETE **button.

Confirm that the disconnected device is no longer in the *Edge Devices* table.
