**To create a basic configuration:**

1. Log in Manufacturing Connect. The *Status Overview* pane by default appears.
2. From the Navigation panel, select **Edge Management**. *Edge Management* pane (Doappears with the *Edge Devices* tab by default appears. 
3. Select the **Activation Configs** tab.
4. Click the **New** (**+**) icon on the tab toolbar. The *New *page opens.

5. (Optional) Customize the following characteristics according to your requirements. For more information, refer to Step 1-4 of [Set Up an Activation Config](docId\:JaNY4AoXq0a3a22W6O3MT).  
   - Limits
     - Number of edge devices
     - Lease TTL
     - Expiration Date
   - Templates
   - Template Variables
   - Provision Options
6. Click **Save**. The activation configuration you have created is saved. For site-based licenses, the edge device activation code appears in the *Activation Code* field of the *Activation Code* section.  
7. Copy aside the *Activation URL* and *Activation Code* values.
