New Features

Description

License Server Management:

  • A new License Clients tab allows you to create activation requests for devices to connect to the license server through a proxy.

MDE Settings:

  • A new Analytics feature is now available in MDE version 1.3.0, which includes the following:
    • New or updated metadata concepts.
      • Metadata buckets will only have one schema.
      • Metadata buckets can only be attached to tags through Types.
      • There are now two bucket types: metadata and tag metadata.
      • New buckets flags.
      • Old flags will be deprecated.
      • You can display all values from a given bucket.
    • Updated Type concepts.
      • Two major categories of Types.
        • Default types: Provided by MDE and read-only.
        • Custom types: Defined by users.
        • Both are identical but default types can't be edited and are displayed differently.
      • New Type configuration components.
        • Edge metadata
        • Tag metadata
    • Updated parser structure
    • New real-time service, allowing better real-time metrics. The following can be provided in real-time:
      • Total messages
      • Messages per tag
      • Last ten tag values
      • Throughput of each stage of the system
    • New transformation framework.
    • New archetypes.

User Interface:

  • A new standalone MDE UI application is available in MDE version 1.2 and later.

Enhancements and Improvements

Description

Support:

  • Clickhouse logs and upgrade logs are now available in support bundles.

Activation:

  • If there is an unsuccessful activation through the license server, more details are now included in the error message to assist in troubleshooting.
  • You now have the option of automatically applying the default password policy in Manufacturing Connect to activated devices.
  • When you activate an edge device, the Google Pub/Sub connector is automatically created with a custom attribute. The attribute name is mce_hostname, and the attribute value is the hostname, which includes the MAC address.

Settings:

  • You have the option storing edge device data (OMA and RAW) in Clickhouse.
  • You can configure the backup retention policy for edge device data by setting the number of backups to store.

Resolved Issues

Description

Edge Devices:

  • Fixed issue where expired site-based licenses do not display their expired status.

Marketplace:

  • Fixed issue with an older Docker version causing the Marketplace Catalog app to crash.

Templates:

  • Fixed issue with NTP, DNS, Timezone, Country, and Docker Data being automatically added to templates.

Upgrade:

  • Fixed issue with being able to downgrade Manufacturing Connect to an earlier version.
  • Fixed issue with not being able to upgrade Manufacturing Connect Edge through Manufacturing Connect.

Users:

  • Fixed issue with an incorrect success message displaying after an unsuccessful attempt to add a user.

Known Issues

Description

Marketplace:

  • Marketplace applications may not launch successfully after upgrading from an older version of Manufacturing Connect.

Templates:

  • Uploading a template file circumvents the 512 character limit for Template Description.
  • Two or more templates can share the same description.

Upgrade:

  • If you upgrade Manufacturing Connect, activated edge devices may display as offline and you will need to reboot Manufacturing Connect to view the devices as online.

Backup:

  • After restoring a backup, the Grafana dashboard may not display.

Edge Devices:

  • The disk usage data for edge devices may not display correctly and hide the value.
  • The Docker version of Manufacturing Connect may not display events after enabling the Forward Events feature.

Settings:

  • If you create a custom topic, the prefix for the topic may be incorrect.
