Review the following information for setting up and configuring the Mitsubishi R04-Ethernet-Binary (Gen1) driver.

To set up and configure this device in Manufacturing Connect Edge, you will need to do the following:

  • Step 1: Set up and Configure the PLC Device
  • Step 2: Set up the PLC Device in Manufacturing Connect Edge DeviceHub
  • Step 3: Configure the List of Registers

Step 1: Set up and Configure the PLC Device

Note: Only one connection is allowed per port defined in the PLC. See the steps below to view and edit the open ports on the PLC.

If the device is configured for Ethernet access, find its network parameters. Otherwise, follow the steps below.

To configure your device:

  1. Note down the following information and refer to it when needed. Device: Mitsubishi R04CPU Communication I/F: Ethernet
  2. Connect the device to your PC using a USB.
  3. Launch GXWorks 3 v1.035M software.
  4. From the navigation panel, navigate to System Parameters > Read Mounting status, and then check for the CPU to display.
  5. From the navigation panel, click Module Configuration to see if the base rack and CPU display.
  6. Click Module Parameters and enter the desired IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway.
  7. If you want to write back to PLC tags with Manufacturing Connect Edge, make sure the Enable/Disable Online Change setting is set to Enable All (SLMP).
  8. Click External Device Configuration (Detailed Setting) to set up the connection (Ethernet Built-in port).
  9. Draw SLMP Connection Module from the Module list to the left.
  10. Set up of the port number depends on how many devices need to connect with the PLC.
  11. Click Close with Reflecting the Setting, click Apply, and then click Write to PLC.
  12. Power the PLC off and on again to activate the setting.
  13. From the navigation panel, navigate to Connection Destination > connection, click Find CPU (Built-in Ethernet port) on Network, and then select the target device.
  14. Click Connection Test.
