# Before You Begin

Before making changes to the DNS/NTP Servers, make sure your configuration is using the same network on which your device is located.

# Fallback DNS Resolvers

The Manufacturing Connect Edge software package installation includes a default configuration for the Fallback DNS Resolvers that is only suitable for the open Internet. You must delete and replace the default entries with your own network information.

To remove a fallback DNS resolver, click the **Trash **icon next to the one you want to remove.

To add a DNS resolver, enter the IP address for a DNS Resolver in the *Add DNS Resolvers* field and click **Add**.

# NTP Client Status

The information provided in this section assists in assessing activation and license provisioning.

The following information is available:

- **Status**: The current status of the NTP Client.
- **Server**: The location of the server.
- **Stratum**: The hierarchy within the NTP network.
- **System Time**: The difference between the device time and the NTP system time.

# NTP Servers

The Manufacturing Connect Edge software package installation includes a default configuration for the NTP server ports that is only suitable for the open Internet. You must delete and replace the default entries with your own network information.

To remove an NTP server, click the **Trash **icon next to the one you want to remove.

To add an NTP server, enter the server port for an NTP server in the *Add NTP Server* field and click **Add**. For example: **0.pool.ntp.org**.

# Hosts File

You can add a new host binding. The host binding supplies configuration metadata, allowing you to set properties on an element or component for the host. You can then generate events on the host.

To add a host binding, click the **Add **icon, enter the details, and then click **Create**.

- **Names**: Enter one or more names for the elements or components that generate events.

To remove a host binding, click the **Action menu** for the host binding and select **Remove**.
