New Features

Description

Certificates:

  • The Certificates page has been updated to manage SSL Certificates on Edge Devices. The page includes combined menu items, sorting and filtering options, menu actions, as well as logging and monitoring features.
  • The Issue a new certificate dialog box has a new Certificate Authority field, which includes Manufacturing Connect and DigiCert IoT Trust Manager as selectable values for certificate issuance.
  • The certificate action tab include three actions, Issue a new certificate, Upload a new certificate and Reset to Edge default certificate.

AI/ML Models:

  • The main homepage now features a new user interface for central management of Edge AI/ML Models, including summary statistics to provide a comprehensive understanding of the usage of AI/ML Models within Manufacturing Connect Edge.

Integration:

  • The DigiCert IoT Trust Manager integration is now available from the admin console.

Marketplaces:

  • The marketplace catalog app now supports adding fully compliant Docker Compose files to the new application releases.

Activation:

  • The template variables now have a new drop-down selection menu for the variable name field, allowing users to select from the list of all the variables defined in the parameterized templates in the activation configuration.

Enhancements and Improvements

Description

Cloud Management:

  • The Create Type dialog box is updated to hide the data schema section for numeric archetype types, preventing errors when setting values for NUMERIC_DATA_SERIES and CLUSTERED_NUMERIC_DATA_SERIES.
  • The Notifications pane now has an improved UI for managing and interacting with notifications, including listing, filtering, reading, and deleting notifications.
  • You can delete old metadata instances automatically when the total number for a specific natural key goes over a certain threshold. Also, a new UI page has been added to list keys that surpass the threshold.
  • You can now turn the processing on or off and monitor the current state of ingestion through a new processing status button in the UI.
  • The capability checking mechanism now supports current and previous versions of MDE API with a list of supported MDE versions and an internal capability matrix in the UI.
  • The improved cloud config manager controller enhances responsiveness by eliminating the need for controller re-initialization.



Admin Console Cloud Settings:

  • In Cloud settings:
    • When configuring Cloud Credentials, you now have the option of configuring GCP Workload identity federation (OIDC) for authorization.
    • During account service key rotation, mpc-sync service account keys are also rotated as well.
  • In Email settings, when the Enable SMTP toggle is disabled, any existing SMTP settings are now removed.

Edge Devices:

  • When the Manufacturing Connect base-domain name is updated, respective activation URLs for Edge devices are automatically updated based on the new domain name.
  • Upgrades are now restricted to VM-based Edge devices. Upgrades on Docker-based Edge devices are not allowed.
  • The Nginx limit for the activation endpoint of 10 rps (requests per second) is now removed, allowing for more Edge devices to be processed at one time.
  • The error message now contains the Activation config code and correct template name during failed activations with a template.
  • Added logging for the deactivation process for an edge device in the API actions log.

Templates:

  • Templates for Edge devices are now included in Manufacturing Connect backups. If a Manufacturing Connect backup is restored, Edge device templates are also restored.

Marketplace:

  • The Marketplace Catalog's API can be accessed by third-party applications using tokens authorized by Manufacturing Connect admin.

User Interface:

  • The activation logs have been moved to System Events from the Jobs tab, which is no longer available.

Incidents:

  • The Incidents now have added support for creating alerts and triggers based on OPC UA telemetry from Prometheus endpoint.

Settings:

  • The CREDENTIALS page in Settings has been updated with a new user interface to separately display and download SSL certificate information for MQTT and Web servers.

Keycloak:

  • Upgraded keycloak to 24.0.5.

Alerts:

  • The Incidents page is now available under the Alerts page.

Activation:

  • The activation failure and failed provisions setup experience are improved to accurately display the Failed provision status with details and indicate the source of deactivation in the Edge device list.
  • The Activation > Requests page displays an optimized summary of the activation requests and their respective status, including Total, Waiting for Approval, Processing, Processed, and Failed.

Resolved Issues

Description

Certificates:

  • Fixed issue with display of device certificate after activation in Manufacturing connect.

Edge Management:

  • Fixed issue with Manufacturing connect edge activation.
  • Fixed error message details in template deletion to display only activation configuration code list.
  • Fixed issue with Node-Red dashboard not showing on Remote UI due to missing socket ID in the URL.
  • Fixed issue where template creation from the Manufacturing connect edge was unsuccessful due to trial license restrictions.
  • Fixed issue with unsuccessfully trying to create a backup for an edge device.

Security:

  • Multiple vulnerabilities have been resolved as part of this release.

Events & Alerts:

  • Fixed false alert trigger issue related to the creation of the "Edge Device license expiration" incident when using a site-based license during Manufacturing connect edge activation.
  • Fixed issue where provision errors were not being displayed in the system event logs.
  • Fixed issue with the incorrect system event description displaying.
  • Fixed issue with not being able to set the Verify SSL setting to false.
  • Fixed issue under the Incidents section where the Device Group List filter was not working.
  • Fixed issue where email notifications continued to be sent after manually resolving incidents from Manufacturing Connect.
  • Fixed issue with the incorrect system event description displaying.

Templates:

  • Fixed issue with duplicate template names being allowed. Template names must now be unique.

Storage Settings:

  • Fixed issue with features not working properly after switching between local and cloud storage.

User Interface:

  • Fixed issue with the user interface loading before Keycloak is ready to run.
  • Fixed issue with the menu items not updating the list of sub-menus after redirecting to another page.

Support:

  • Fixed issue with no such directory errors during support bundle generation.
  • Fixed issues with iptable settings not being able to be restored on boot.
  • Fixed issue where the initialization page for nginx config wasn't shown during the first boot in the Manufacturing Connect user interface.
  • Fixed issue for the upload UPD dialog box not closing after a successful upload.
  • Fixed issue with site cards not displaying correctly after reloading the page.
  • Fixed issue with % data on the Disk Usage graph not displaying correctly.
  • Fixed issue with mc-admin logs not being included in support bundles.

Profile:

  • Fixed issue with the Two-factor authentication section that was causing an Internal server error when attempting to set up 2FA.

Activation:

  • Fixed issue where some edge devices' stages were incorrectly marked as Paused when activated without a license.

Admin:

  • Fixed issue with the Admin user interface not successfully downloading keycloak JWKS.
  • Fixed issue with the isotat library in the admin error logs.

Applications:

  • Fixed issue with an empty list displaying after filtering the list of applications by catalog.

Data Lifecycle:

  • Fixed issue with charts causing text to be cut off.
