Add an Interface Alias

you can add an alias for linux serial interfaces that are connected to your network by navigating to system > info from the serial interfaces section linux serial devices assign a random file address upon connection or disconnection and can cause an issue when the system reboots example random file addresses /dev/ttyusb0 , /dev/ttyusb1 , or /dev/ttys0 the < /dev/ttyusb# > file address is used when dialing out through a port the < /dev/ttys# > file address is used whenever the port is used for dialing in notes you can use alpha numeric characters for the alias (a z, a z, 0 9) the symlink is read only you cannot add an alias if no symlink is present path information is run by serial number added alias information is run by alias you can copy an alias to use with devicehub drivers add a serial interface alias to add a serial interface alias navigate to system the info pane appears from the serial interfaces section, click the action menu next to a serial interface and select set alias from the create interface alias dialog box, enter an alias name in the interface alias field click create alias
