VirtualBox Only Showing 32-bit and No 64-bit Versions

3min

When creating a new VirtualBox, you should see options for 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Your host operating system needs 64-bit to run a guest operating system in VirtualBox.

There is an issue when installing Manufacturing Connect Edge on a VirtualBox for Windows systems that have upgraded the Windows OS.

If you only see 32-bit versions when selecting the type of operating system, Windows OS has upgraded and turned on Memory Integrity for security reasons.

You must have administrative access to the security in Windows to turn this off.

There are two solutions to fix the Memory Integrity issue:

Solution 1: Repair VirtualBox Installation

Complete these steps to repair the version of VirtualBox you currently have.

To repair the VirtualBox installation:

  1. Download the same version of the installer file that you currently have from the VirtualBox website.
  2. Right-click the installer file used to install VirtualBox and select Run as administrator.
  3. When the Windows User Account Control window appears, click Yes. You may need to enter an administrator password in the User Account Control window. A setup window appears.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Click the Repair icon.
