note this was previously an experimental feature before manufacturing connect version 2 7 0 templates allow you to preconfigure an edge device's associated devices parameterizing a template allows you to specify variables for selected attributes within the template, which can then be applied to specific devices you can convert an existing template to a parameterized template you can add variables and parameterize a template from the templates pane you can preview the template and download the json to verify the variables on the template, and then upload the template before you begin upload at least one template see load template from file in templates docid\ szwx7grbr36gqnhhhoprd determine which attributes in the selected template need a variable additional details you can do the following apply the parameterized template to an existing device apply the parameterized template to an existing device during activation parameterize company , project , or instance templates select any attribute in a template to create a variable access parameter template ui to access the parameter template ui log in to manufacturing connect the status overview pane by default appears from the navigation panel, select edge management the edge management pane appears, by default the edge devices tab displays from edge management pane, select templates the templates tab appears click the actions icon next to a template which has not been parameterized and select parameterize template the template details pane opens displaying the variables and parameterized template panels refer to the following actions you can take on the templates details pane action details \[1] show filter / hide filter search by name , and description \[2] add variable add a new variable to the selected template \[3] reload update the list \[4] action menu edit delete \[5] select rows per page 10, 50, 100 \[6] forward/backward variables add a new forward/backward variable to the selected template \[7] edit variable modify an existing variable within the template \[8] expand template variables expand the section to view all template variables \[9] save parameterized template save the template to review its structure and contents later \[10] preview template preview the template to review its structure and contents \[11] delete parameterized template delete the selected parameterized template more on edit variable action details \[12] select variable select a variable to edit from the list of existing variables \[13] done confirm the editing process is complete action details \[14] revert to the default value revert the selected variable to its default value if needed
