Disconnect an Edge Device

You can disconnect your Edge device from your Manufacturing Connect when it is no longer needed. Follow these steps to disconnect an Edge device.

Before You Begin

Ensure you have at least one Edge device activated in your Manufacturing Connect. See Activate an Edge Device for more information.

Step 1: Navigate to Edge Devices

From your Manufacturing Connect dashboard, open the Edge Management page.

Step 2: Deactivate the Device

You must first deactivate the device before disconnecting it from Manufacturing Connect. 

To deactivate an edge device:

  1. For the Edge device you want to disconnect, click the Action menu and select Deactivate. The Deactivation dialog box appears.

  2. Select the checkbox to Force deactivation and click DEACTIVATE

Caution: Deactivation is an irreversible process. If not done carefully, you may lose all device configurations.

Step 3: Remove the Device

Once you have deactivated the device, you can safely remove it.

To remove an edge device: 

  1. Navigate to the Edge Management page again.
  2. Click the Action menu and select Delete. The Deletion dialog box appears.

  3. To remove the device permanently, click the DELETE button.

Confirm that the disconnected device is no longer in the Edge Devices table.
